Today I had the opportunity to go to a Women's Conference for Relief Society (makes me feel old ha). I did have an unusual chance though to meet, LEGITIMATELY, meet Sheri Dew and Wendy Nelson (Elder Russell M. Nelson's, of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, wifey). Can I just say they are some of the most inspiring women I have ever met. It was amazing to hear their take on life and the courage and hope they had for their own lives as well as every woman and man in that chapel- it was phenomenal.
One thing from this conference that really stuck out to me was something that both Sister Dew and Sister Nelson discussed was to know that you CAN get through anything. That we are prepared, and if we feel like we aren't then we better get to work. HOW COOL IS THAT?! I guess that's something that we, as women in the church, hear a lot...but it was something I really needed at that time and I am so grateful that they were prompted to say such. Also, we had this little breakfast thing, it was the stake presidents and their wives, and Relief Society presidencies from the stakes that attended, (I got to go because our stake pres. was out of town and so I got the awesome chance to go with dad), and Sheri Dew was asked about the mission ages for the young women and it was interesting because she looked at me from across the room as everyone is eating and said, "you know, I think it's an amazing change. Fabulous, really, that these young women have the opportunity to serve if it's right for them and they don't have to even think about it really. They don't have to put off marriage or get too deep into their college life. And they are going to do amazing things for the Church." I seriously just about died right there. It was like she was speaking directly to me about this and she is so right about how easy it was, for me at least, to make the decision to serve a mission. Some things...man, they really just hit me hard and make me really contemplate and ponder on the things I'm doing.
These women truly inspired me. Be yourself, have hope, be a light to others, bring the light to others, be strong, and turn to the Lord, for He will help you in more ways than you can imagine. I've seen it sufficiently, and cannot deny that.
I love you, Tara! You are going to be an amazing missionary!!
