Winter's Journey

I had the opportunity to go snow shoeing with my sister, brother in-law, little brother, and Brett yesterday. It was such a blast despite the freezing cold temperatures and my lack of proper snow gear. Having never gone before I was curious as to how the whole snowshoe process worked. My sister and her husband had gone before and helped us "newbies" figure out the snowshoe scene. We thought that my brother, Will, and me had kid-sized snowshoes but we were able to make them work and it was still fun. After this little trek though I'm pretty sure we are an accident prone bunch.

The boys thought it would be fun to hike up this steep hill...Adrienne and I, however, didn't. What with the coming down part being a little creepy with all the trees and such at the bottom. So we happily stood at the bottom watching the guys struggle climbing up with their snow shoes clunking in the snow. We talked about how the ending of this little part of the day could possibly be a bit tragic. (I think the whole being pregnant thing is kicking Adrienne's motherly senses in hard core.)

Mike and Will had a great idea to slide down on their rears...Mike learned that if you do that, you break the poles and probably lose a snow shoe. I'm pretty sure the first words he heard after getting down were from his wifey so lovingly saying, "Well hi, Abominable Snowman!" Haha made my day, quite honestly!

I'll leave it at this- Willy slipped down into a big hole. We laughed.

The day was such a success and ended in smiles and soup after a hard day of trekking in the snow, falling down, watching people fall down, snow angels, dropping cameras, batteries dying, and carefully watching where we step. Thanks Adrienne and Mike for this great day!!
